As the sun set on our first night in Kingston, Jamaica, we noticed an odd scratching noise on the roof above our heads. It was not until the next morning when we saw pigeons on the tin roof next to us that we realized those same birds were making the noise on our side. Those pigeons constantly remind us that we are far away from America, and we want to use this blog to describe our experiences here on the Island. Just as the talons of the pigeons are scratching their marks on our tin roof, this will be our attempt at scratching our marks on the world.
NAME? B-E-T-S-Y (BF on chin) and R-A-C-H-E-L (R on nose). We are spending our summer working at the Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf (www.cccdjamaica.net) where we do anything from pouring cement with the teams, to working in the school office, to teaching sign language, to playing with the kids. It became a bit cumbersome to write multiple emails to all our family and friends so we decided to make this one-stop site where everyone could read about our adventures. So join us for the next two months as we scratch our talons into the world's tin roof.
